A mantra is a sound, word, or sentence used in repetition that aids in your concentration or meditation. It can be used to relive stress, create a calmer mindset or even to focus the mind on a task in hand better.
I use it as a calming tool for my busy juggling life, but also as an affirmation tool to help and encourage focus on my own goals. We all feel self doubt – or at least I do. Running a business, being a wife, raising children of various age ranges is complex at times. I don’t always have the answer. However I do assume and expect the answer to come to me. I believe in listening to myself – you know that inner you, the inner voice. Some call it your instinct. Some call it your spirit, some a message from God, some haven’t heard theirs yet. But if you allow yourself to tune in, it’s there and is a pretty good guidance tool.
The more self affirmations, mantras or positive energies we tell ourselves or invest into ourselves, the more we naturally play them out. For example – I am kind inside and out. A simple positive affirmation/mantra to say repeatedly to yourself that is a statement. One that can and will be actioned through your week if you keep saying it. Try it..
A great positive food affirmation I like to use is: ‘I eat well so that I can live well’. Very simple but very effective. Or ‘today I eat for nourishment’. I recently have had some health issues and have used this positive affirmation to give myself permission to nourish myself. Sleep, eat well, listen to myself, read or just change a few things in my diet to aid my recovery. I put up a FB post about Kitchari recently – a dish which is vegetarian, lightly spiced and very nourishing on the gut…go check it out here.. I followed a great lady on insta called Rosemary Ferguson who is nutritionist and functional medical practitioner. She created a simple 5 day plan to reset the gut and aline it with your mindset to encourage digestion and getting energy levels back. Go check her out here..
So, what is the one positive affirmation or mantra you can tell yourself this week? It doesn’t have to be food based, it could be based on a work task you need to focus on to get finished, or an attitude you want to see more of in yourself. Maybe a parenting affirmation to help you tackle a challenge that has arisen or to be aware of something within your household. Whatever it is I champion you to start today. It really does and can flip the focus back to where it needs to be a help to make positive change a reality rather than just a wish list.
