After a manic school run that ended in a tantruming 18month old, a very cross 8 yr old (I was 3 min late… again) and the heavens opening I can honestly say I am well and truly thankful to see the weekend. It’s the first week of Dry January for me and in this house, we are feeling a little shell-shocked by a new term beginning, going back to work and routine reintroduced. Putting the kettle on is going to be my only source of delight in the drinks department over the next few weeks – one that I’m actually quite pleased about. Too much red wine, Gin and Spiced Rum through the Christmas period has been consumed.
As its Friday night, I am going to sit and plan what to cook this weekend. I’m thinking of making a tandoori rub and smothering a whole chicken to sit and marinate overnight. There is nothing like a Smokey, spicy roast chicken with scorched red peppers and a cool tzatziki stuffed pitta to make a truly happy Saturday for all the family.
